The black screen is actually the DOS screen as it ended up during bootup. The delay is caused by win.com's launch process. There's a lot going on during this phase even before the network is initiallised and a delay is only to be expected. For example, I have a three second pause but I've seen pauses as long as 10

When I'm starting Win2k, after I select Win2k from the startup-menu I just get a black screen and this lasts for about 25 seconds and then I get some dots on my screen and then finally the Win2k startup logo. I'm still using the beta 3 build 2031 (it's a dutch version, that's why it's so old. Is this normal?

Both with and without patching it with the 1.1y patch I just get a black screen on starting the game. I've tried the game both with and without my Voodoo HAL enabled (ie I've tried running it on my GeForce as well as the Voodoo2s). I've tried changing to 640x480x8 resolution before running the game.

Now it will start sit on a black screen for 5-6 minutes and then slowly piece by piece load the start up screen - upon logging in the screen will sit blank for a minute and then slowly load the interface. Windows Messenger will load and sign in - and then loose its connection and resign back in.

Of course I had to press reset, which resulted that it brought up the "we are sorry..., also black screen, but with the same options as when you press F8 on reboot. The default, with 30 seconds left, was on "Windows XP", so of course I didn't change it with the arrows, to "restore to a previous state".
